After a long hiatus, I blew the dust off Podcast Idiot to talk about the RSS feed creator/editor I built. Years before I started using tools like Sovereign Feeds for my music podcast Sats and Sounds, I wanted something much simpler to create podcast RSS feeds. Using AI tools including Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and Grok, I spent nearly two years experimenting before changing my approach. Instead of asking AI to build a complete platform, I started with a basic HTML form and built incrementally. The result is a single HTML file local podcast RSS feed creator/editor that supports iTunes and Podcasting 2.0 tags, can ingest and edit feeds, and generates XML files you can save and upload yourself. It’s a straightforward tool that lives on your computer, or anywhere you place it one the web, and does its job. I tested it successfully on an episode of The Casual Hike, and I’m using it for this episode as well.
