The biggest hurdle to getting started is… getting started. You want to do this and have tons of ideas but continue to get bogged down with one thing or another before actually recording something and posting it.
For example, I created this web site. Then I went down the rabbit hole. Here are some of the things I started to think about before actually publishing an episode:
- Find a WordPress theme
- I need a logo,
- What’s my brand?
- What will be the structure of the podcast?
- What about Bitcoin and advertising?
- What microphone do I need?
- Do I need a mixer?
- Headphones?
- Software?
- Hosting?
There are more things that keep running through my head for the launch. But I’m coming to realize there is no point if nothing is actually launched.
With that in mind I pulled the trigger on purchasing some equipment the other day. I spent less than $700. I could just start recording with my phone but I want half-way decent audio. My office setup is not optimal for podcasting. It’s a desk in a bedroom that I converted to an office. There’s no sound deadening foam on the walls and I have three dogs that are bound to make noise I don’t want them to make.
I’ll detail the equipment I bought in another post but I wanted to get this post online. I’ve been planning this for a while and it’s time to actually create some content.
This is the start!
